Melbourne, Australia's second-largest city, has a unique charm that resonates with me. Its captivating mix of historic Victorian-era architecture and contemporary wonders makes it an essential destination for any traveler.

A Birthday Surprise to Remember
On my 26th birthday, my partner surprised me with a trip to Melbourne, and it was a truly heartwarming gesture. Although TJ had been to Melbourne before, it was my first time exploring this vibrant city, which had always been on my travel wishlist. We were eager to discover Melbourne's diverse offerings, from its rich history to its modern attractions.

Day 1: Along the Enchanting Great Ocean Road
Our adventure began with a breathtaking drive along the iconic Great Ocean Road. Every few minutes, we'd stop to capture the stunning coastal scenery, even on a cloudy day when we visited the 12 Apostles. Our guide shared that these cliffs transform in color during sunrise and sunset, adding to their allure.

A short drive from the 12 Apostles brought us to Loch Ard Gorge, revealing yet another beautiful rock formation. The beauty of nature left me yearning for more, but we had to return due to rowdy weather. It marked the end of our first day in Melbourne.

Day 2: Kangaroos and Chocolate Delights
Day two was a delightful experience at the Maru Koala & Animal Park, where we had the opportunity to feed adorable baby kangaroos. Their cuteness was irresistible, and I couldn't help but want to cuddle one.

Next on our agenda was a visit to a chocolate factory. The tantalizing displays had us craving every sweet treat in sight.

Our evening concluded with the famous Phillip Island Penguin Parade at sunset, where we witnessed penguins in action, crossing the ocean at night.

Days 3 & 4: Exploring Melbourne's Charming Side
The following days were dedicated to exploring Melbourne's city life. We wandered the streets, discovering historic gems like the church and Queen Victoria Market. Inside the Royal Arcade, we admired statues of mythical creatures and a chiming wall clock that caught our attention. The grandeur of Flinders Railway Station and the beauty of the Royal Arcade left us in awe.

Of course, I wouldn't miss Hosier Lane in Melbourne—it's a must-visit for art lovers. This iconic laneway is a dynamic canvas for street art, featuring vibrant, ever-changing murals by local and international artists. It's a captivating destination that beautifully showcases Melbourne's thriving street art culture.

Chin Chin was a highly anticipated stop on our itinerary, fueled by the glowing reviews and recommendations we had received.
